First, looking at the situation, the party has been continuing their filibuster for two days so far, and with the uncertainty of when this will come to an end, Rep. Eun Soo-mi on Wednesday made a record in Korea for the longest filibuster of 10 hours and 18 minutes.
With that, the question rose of whether it is, in fact, even possible to talk for this long, standing and without any bathroom breaks. Rep. Eun had to filibuster without eating any food for that length, and in the middle of her prolonged speech, the hand she used to hold a water bottle shook in finest detail.
Finally, after more than 10 hours, she left the podium, unsteadily staggering. Citizens, watching this kind of situation unfold, questioned whether there was any purpose to this. Even with the continuation of the filibuster, once March’s special house session approaches, the terror-prevent act will be put to a vote by the speaker’s authority. Hence, it is that there is no significance to this.

Furthermore, to filibuster is not a common act; it requires a lot of time and effort and in the end, the bill gets put to a vote anyway. This filibuster by the Minjoo Party hasn't occurred since 47 years.
As a result, citizens have been divided on this issue, with one criticizing the party while the other is sending support.

[스페셜경제=김은지 기자]테러방지법 직권상정 처리를 막기 위한 야당의 몸부림이 거세지고 있다. 야당은 ‘무제한 토론 (필리버스터)’을 이틀째 이어가고 있다. 특히, 더불어민주당 은수미 의원은 24일 10시간 18분간의 필리버스터로 국내 최장 기록을 경신했다. 은 의원은 화장실도 못가고 금식하며 발언을 이어갔다. 그는 발언 도중 물병을 들어 올린 손이 미세하게 떨리는 모습도 포착됐다. 10시간 18분 후 그는 발언대에서 쩔뚝이며 내려왔다. 이를 두고 일각에서는 사실상 필리버스터를 계속 이어간다 해도 이번 2월 임시국회 회기가 종료된 이후 다음 회기에서 테러방지법은 자동으로 표결에 부쳐지는데, 필리버스터 강행에 대해 아무 의미가 없을 수 있다는 우려 섞인 시선으로 야당을 바라고 있다. 야당이 이번 필리버스터를 선택한 이유 야당은 이번 필리버스터를 통해 국민에게 테러방지법에 대한 부정적 면을 부각시키려 하고 있다. 더불어민주당은 지속적으로 여당이 추진한 테러방지법을 반대해왔다. 더민주의 반대로 테러방지법은 국회의 문턱을 넘지 못했다. 정부여당은 이를 두고 국회에 아무 도움이 되지 않고 있다며 국회에서 해야 하는 일에 제동을 걸고 있다고 주장하고 있다. 게다가 필리버스터는 흔하지 않는 일이다. 많은 체력을 소모해야 하고 결국 법안은 표결될 가능성이 크기 때문이다. 따라서 국회에서 이번 필리버스터가 이뤄진 것은 무려 47년만이다. 여권의 한 관계자는 “야당이 국정원을 믿지 못하고 무조건적으로 반대하는 처사는 분명 정치적 의도가 있다”면서 “20대 총선을 50여일 앞둔 시점에 야권의 분열로 불리한 형세를 필리버스터라라는 여론 몰이를 통해 반전을 꾀하기 위한 꼼수”라고 비판했다. 이에 반해 각종 온라인 커뮤니티와 SNS상에서는 야당의원들의 필리버스터를 정부여당의 독단에 맞서는 용기라고 응원하며 테러방지법을 반대하고 있는 글들이 퍼지고 있다.
