[Special Economy=Eunji Kim]Jakarta police chief Insp. Gen. Tito Karnavian, has said on Thursday, that ISIS was behind the attacks that rocked Indonesia's capital that day.
The National Police spokesperson Insp. Gen. Anton Charliyan has added earlier that terrorists linked to the city's explosions imitated the Paris terror attacks.
During the attack, a series of bomb and gun attacks followed, one of the blasts occurring near the United Nations headquarters on Thamrin Road.
There was also an attack near a Starbucks cafe and Sarinah, Jakarta's oldest department store, as a team of militants traded gunfire with the police before committing suicide. It took three hours to end this attack.
Al-Hayat Media Center, the foreign language division of ISIS, said in an online statement: “A group of soldiers of the caliphate in Indonesia targeted a gathering from the crusader alliance that fights the Islamic State in Jakarta through planting several explosive devices that went off as four of the soldiers attacked with light weapons and explosive belts.”
At least seven, including five attackers, a Canadian and Indonesian, were killed and 23 others were injured.
