[스페셜경제= Dongsu Kim] Many companies and world economies are experiencing difficulties that ripple from the outstanding US-China tiff, others are still managing to stay upright on their two feet, and such is the situation of Vietnam, which is on its way to becoming more and more effective as a startup nation.

What does that mean, exactly? According to Al Jazeera, Vietnam’s growth is in large part thanks to tech startups, in this case, mostly food delivery apps which provide citizens of Vietnam with literally any food they could want that the country can provide.

Despite this being an important part of Vietnam’s journey into economic growth, the report still reveals that new businesses that have come into the country are also giving the government more challenges in terms of policies that might help companies eventually grow from these startups.

To try and make space for startups that now account for 40 percent of Vietnam’s economy, the government is now trying to “reduce the number of state-owned enterprises and expand the private sector.” If this continues, the government can hit its one million private businesses goal by 2020. If that happens, Vietnam is looking at an economy that could be a “substantial source for growth.”

Vietnam’s process is also catching the attention of global onlookers, too, as Aaron Everhart, a startup adviser from Silicon Valley lauds Vietnam’s effort and dedication to bettering what started off as presumably a pet project two years ago.

Since then, Everhart notes that a lot of Vietnamese provinces have dipped their toes in contributing some sort of entrepreneurial idea. However, based on Everhart’s analysis, though the country is slowly but surely coming into its startup nation identity, Vietnam would still need the “vocabulary and tools” to ensure that they stay on track with their budding startup nation.
